We reckon it is useless for us to remind the girls that only three days of leap year yet remain. But many great victories have been won in less time than that, girls.

The fine turkey which Mr. F.W. Frazer intended for our Thanksgiving dinner, but which his tenant failed to deliver, arrived O.K. in time for Christmas. Thanks.

McPherson has struck salt at a depth of 800 feet. Marion has found the strongest brine at the depth of 170 feet, and has never gone deeper than that.

On last Saturday, Manhattan celebrated the completion of the new stove works and foundry, 1,000 citizens participating in the event. Marion has broken her record by the recent election and we can now hope for similar improvements. Let us have them all — stove works, foundry, cotton mill, sugar mill and factories of all kinds.

Master Carl Rogers, the 10-year-old wolf hunter, captured a big wolf a few days ago, five or six miles northeast of Marion. A few days before the capture, his father assisted him in setting a trap for the animal. Carl was very attentive to the trap, and a few mornings ago, he found his prize. He had no club or gun but rocks were plenty and he used them until he succeeded in killing the animal. He then loaded it onto his pony and climbed on himself and came home, I presume, feeling considerable larger than ordinary 10-year-olds.
