A collection will be taken at the Marion school to aid in restoring one of the buildings which has been destroyed at Mount Vernon. This enterprise has been assigned to the public schools of Kansas by a society of ladies having the matter in hand. This society is called the Mt. Vernon Ladies’ Association and was organized in 1859 for the purpose of putting in repair the former home of George Washington.

The Santa Fe has shipped the first orange train of the season. It comes from Los Angeles, Cal., and consists of one hundred and thirty tons. How our mouths water for some of those golden balls!

Some good improvements are being made at the valley school house in fences, sidewalks and buildings.

Taylor Riddle has caused his drug store to look as pretty as a boudoir by the application of paint and paper. He now has one of the prettiest stores we have ever seen.

The W.R.C. has made arrangements with Major R.H. Hendershot, the original drummer of the Rappahannock, for his celebrated entertainment in this city March 11.
