The Central Kansas Camp-Meeting Association opened a ten days meeting in Central Park, in this city, Wednesday afternoon. There are some sixty odd tents on the beautiful grounds, and they are filling up rapidly in spite of the weather.

Marion county gets $3,633.84 as its share from the semi-annual division of the State school fund. That comes of having a family of 7,416 children.

L.F. Keller has been climbing the Colorado mountains and “viewing the landscape o’er” from the top of Pikes Peak the past week.

Dr. and Mrs. Martin’s and Mrs. Earp’s Sunday school classes picnicked at Chingawasa last Friday. During the afternoon an incident occurred which exploded the old theory that a woman can’t throw a stone. Dr. Martin was illustrating their supposed awkwardness in this regard when just then a muskrat swam along down the creek in front of them. Promptly seizing a stone, Mrs. Woolpert threw it with unerring precision, and killed the muskrat instantly. We wouldn’t be a bit surprised, now, if some Marion woman should succeed in tying a bundle or sharpening a lead pencil.

Mr. Loveless and Mr. Mendanhall have been in Chicago this week “laying in” a big fall stock of goods for Loveless & Sackett’s mammoth establishment.
