“In company with Billy Martin Lee and Grove Swope, we took in Marion last Friday. Marion is a real nice town and you like her looks the minute you enter her portals. The first thing that greeted us was a camp-meeting and then a super-abundance of “school mams.” Besides, it has one of the best country hotels in the State and a gateway to Chingawasa Springs. Nature has done much toward making the latter spot a summer resort, the hand of man nothing. A little cog railroad runs out once every hour and the summer girls at the Springs hail its advent much after the same manner the small boy does a dancing bear or a company with a band.”

(The following items are excerpts of an item written by a Mr. Miller, of Wichita, who recently visited the Chingawasa resort and wrote this report.)

‘Nature has done much to make Chingawasa Springs attractive. Surrounding hills and a large natural grove through which winds a swift running brook fed by some forty springs, some of them noted for their curative mineral properties and all with waters clear as crystal.”

“The hotel accommodations provided by the proprietors of these springs are very plain and primitive . . . . Those coming to Chingawasa by railroad quit the train at this beautiful city, Marion, where one is tempted by superior hotel accommodations to linger, and one could divide their time very pleasantly between Marion and Chingawasa. Marion has also a mineral well and a good bath house.”
