At twenty-five minutes of seven o’clock, last evening, the spirit of one of Marion’s leading citizens, William J. Dudley, left its earthly tenement. We have neither time or space, at this writing, to pay a proper tribute to this useful citizen and good man. The whole community mourns.

The Chingawasa will run an excursion train to the Springs at three o’clock Sunday afternoon. Round trip, 15 cents; children, 10 cents.

We doubt if there’s a body of musicians in the State who have made more rapid progress than the young men composing the Marion Cornet Band. Tomorrow (Saturday) night, the Band will give an ice cream and cake social in the store room between the First National Bank and the Jones Grocery Co’s establishment, where ice cream and cake will be served at fifteen cents. Proceeds to go to the buying of instruments needed by the Band.

The Record believes that the time will come when churches will be built as school houses are now built—just as the demands of the population and possible support shall dictate. And every church will be then as the schools are now, centers of common supply, in their line, of all the need within their prescribed radius.
