Tornadoes are getting too fashionable. Kansas, Illinois, Iowa and California have recently had demonstrations of the Storm King’s fury. So far as we are concerned, we are willing for these furious gales to suspend operations for the season.

Peabody will charge $200 for liquor license. It would be mathematical wisdom to add another cipher.

The tidal wave of emigration still flows to Kansas. And there’s no ebb to it.

The value of advertising is constantly becoming more apparent. A few weeks ago Mr. J.M. Brown advertised some mules for sale, and before the paper was issued the mules were sold. Last Monday a man called at this office to advertise six head of mules and horses which had strayed away, and found in this fountain of general information a gentleman who directed him to where the animals could be found.

One of the Battey band boys comes fifteen miles to attend its meeting.

More has been done this spring to adorn and beautify Marion Centre than in any two seasons heretofore. Town pride is growing.

Mr. David Lucas brought to this office, a stool of Red May wheat which measured three feet and three inches in length, and was partially headed out. Dave says it is a fair sample of the eighty acre upland field from which it was taken.
