Attention is called to the advertisement of Mr. L. Strom, who has lately opened in our city a boot and shoe establishment, in Brewer’s building, near Muddy bridge.

Col. Bates has brought us a stool of wheat which measures twenty inches, and is jointed, which he says is a fair sample of a large field.

Gentlemen from all parts of the county are complimenting the appearance of the court house.

While a stone house costs more than a frame building—though there is little difference—yet when you get a good stone house erected, you have something solid and substantial.

Several years ago, Marion Centre was named the stone city. It seems that the name is destined to become more and more appropriate.

The band stand, for which a subscription has been generously raised by our citizens, is being erected on Fred Rouse’s lot, corner of Main and Third street.

Dr. Rogers is accumulating stone for a two story stone building adjoining the Cottonwood Valley Bank building. It will be in harmony with that handsome structure.
