Another old land mark has been taken away. Case’s old log house, on Third Street, has been torn down. It was one of the first houses, if not the first, built in the town, and was the first “hotel,” we believe, in the county.

The “hill’ has been adorned by another wind mill, at Dr. Hannaford’s.

Presiding Elder Cline paid Marion Centre a fine compliment upon occasion of his first visit to this place last week. He said it was the most substantial looking town for its size he has seen in Kansas.

Marion County has always taken a great deal of pride in the beautiful stock farm or ranch of Albert Crane, more familiarly known as “Durham Park.” Its many friends will be pleased to hear of its great prosperity.

We learn from Mr. Hallowell, its able and popular superintendent, that the Shorthorn herd has been increased, by birth and purchase, upward of a hundred head. Two car loads more are expected early next week from the celebrated herd of James Nix of Illinois.

We also learned that Mr. Crane has plans for largely increasing the business of the Park, including contemplating going into the breeding of mules upon a large scale—as they usually do everything up there.

The Fair and Festival given last night by the ladies of the Presbyterian church was in every sense a most gratifying success. The attendance was large, the supper good, embellishments of the room handsome, the Fair articles numerous, neat, and valuable.
