MORE

march 28, 1879

An engineer for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad arrived in town Saturday and has since gone over the route to McPherson.

Everything is being rapidly got in readiness, and a final survey will be commenced at once. The Marion and McPherson line is assuming shape and will be pushed to completion as fast as possible.

The time for election of city officers approaches, and as yet little is said about it. We wish that there could be some sort of unity and harmony by which a single ticket would be put in the field, composed of good men and elected without opposition.

Nearly everybody is taking the Record’s advice and is setting out trees.

We have been requested to say something concerning the building of hay stables in the city limits.

While it would work considerable inconvenience to some parties, yet it seems to us that the safety of the city requires that these dangerous fire-spreaders be prohibited or at least be restricted in some way.

As the town becomes more thickly built up, this matter becomes one of great importance.
