More than two inches of rain fell across the state Monday night and Tuesday, creating a winter wonderland and making people wonder whether this storm will be similar to the 2005 ice storm. As of press time, the city of Marion still had power, but several tree limbs and branches had fallen from the weight of the ice.

The children of Eugene and Betty Just, rural Marion, are inviting friends and relatives to send cards in honor of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 20.

Rebecca Ediger, former physician’s assistant for T.C. Ensey and retired U.S. Secret Service agent, provided a program Dec. 6 for St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary. She spoke of her experiences during her career as a Secret Service agent.

This week’s Christmas Cash winners are Margaret Tice and Mary Schaffer. Each has seven days to claim a $25 Chamber Check at the Marion County Record office.

Hundreds of Marion residents attended an open house Monday at the new school district’s performing arts center and summed it up in one word: “Wow.”
