At a Chamber of Commerce meeting, Amy Kjellin of Marion Youth Advancement Committee said skilled volunteers were needed to install heating and air conditioning at the community’s new youth center.

The group has decided to call the youth center Central Station because Central National Bank donated the building, a former service station.

Tori Smith won Marion Elementary School’s spelling bee Tuesday by spelling the word, “miraculous.” Tori and runner-up Paige May will represent the school at the Marion County spelling bee Feb. 10.

The Centre community on Jan. 12 honored the memory of James Weber, a member of the class of 2009, at Centre High School.

Weber of Ramona and Jeremiah Stang of Marion died in July as a result of a two-vehicle accident on a county road in northern Marion County.

Bridget Lundy was crowned queen of courts Friday between Marion High School girls and boys basketball games. Eric Vogel was chosen as king. Other candidates were Kristen Geis, Kayley Heerey, Isaac Hett, and Brady Hudson.
