17 Warriors named all-league
Eleven members of Marion High School’s baseball team and six members of its softball team earned all-league honors this week.
Named to the Heart of America first team for baseball were pitcher Chase Stringer, first baseman Evann Heidebrecht, shortstop Corbin Wheeler, third baseman Sam Zinn, outfielder Cole Srajer, and designated hitter Luke Lanning.
Second-teamers were pitcher Jaxton Tracy and second baseman Cooper Carpenter.
Pitcher Blaine Mermis, catcher Garrett Hoffner, and utility man Jacob Vondenkamp received honorable mention.
Carpenter, Lanning, and Tracy were sophomores this season. Heidebrecht, Mermis, Stringer, and Zinn were juniors. The rest were seniors.
Marion’s six first teamers were the most in the league. Sedgwick was second with three. With nine selections overall, Sedgwick also was second to Marion’s 11 honorees.
In softball, infielder Kourtney Hansen, outfielder Corinna Crabb, and designated player Chisholm Waner were named first-teamers.
Infielders Lindsey Sigel and Laura Savage and outfielder Allison Molleker received honorable mention.
Savage and Waner were freshmen. Crabb was a junior. The others were seniors.
