18 county players all-league

Seven players from Hillsboro and 11 from Marion were named last week to all-league teams in baseball and softball.

For Marion, senior infielders Jayden May and Mickelly Soyez, junior catcher Carley Wilhelm, and sophomore outfielder Natalie Sigel were named first teamers in softball by the Heart of America League.

In baseball, sophomore utility player Jack Lanning made the Heart of America league’s first team.

Junior pitchers Mitch Norris and Ian Ingels made the second team along with two sophomores, first baseman Trevor Schafers and outfielder Cooper Bailey.

Sophomore catcher Gavin Wasmuth and junior designated hitter Hayden Mendoza were honorable mentions.

In the Central Kansas League, Hillsboro had a first-teamer in senior outfielder Matthew Potucek.

Senior pitcher Alex Caldwell and senior utility player Hunter Navrat were honorable mentions.

In softball, senior Reese Helfey was all-league as an outfielder. Two pitchers — junior Kori Arnold and senior Skylre Stucky — made the second team, and junior outfielder Keeley Brewer was an honorable mention.
