Marion Equipment Company, a John Deere agency, has opened as the first business in Marion’s newly established industrial park on North Cedar Street. Dick Luthi, manager, said the operation will be a full-line John Deere dealership with sales, parts, and service.

Finance Commissioner Larry Loomis served his final session on the Marion City Commission Monday afternoon, marking the end of three terms in office. Larry Reiswig, who was elected Tuesday, will replace him next week. Loomis had declined to run for re-election.

Coterie Club celebrated its 50th anniversary Sunday at the Marion Christian Church. There was a total of 52 past and present members in attendance.

Twins Brad Tice and Greg Tice will represent Marion High School at Boys State May 31 to June 6 on the University of Kansas campus at Lawrence.

Adeline Bernhardt and Betty Mueller have been alternating duties of making music on Sunday since the merger of St. John and Evangelical Lutheran churches in Tampa. They are the featured organists in this week’s column on church musicians.

A group of Marion School District students escaped injury recently when two wheels fell off a bus and the vehicle skidded to a halt in the opposite lane of traffic. The two left rear tandem duals came off the bus two miles west of Marion on U.S. 56. The lug nuts and part of the lug bolt had sheared off from the wheel, Don Bezdek, transportation director, said.
