At the Marion County Republican Party caucus, held Thursday night in Hillsboro, Harvey Sanders and Edward Davies announced their candidacy for the position of Marion County sheriff and County Clerk Marquetta Eilerts, County Treasurer Verden Harms, and Register of Deeds Dorothy Lawrence announced their plans to run for re-election.

Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Bina of rural Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Michele Marie, to Douglas Jay Regnier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Regnier of Marion. The couple plans to be married June 4.

Mary Alice Parmley, a native of Marion, who teaches a class of first-graders at McClure Elementary School in Topeka, has been selected by her peers as master teacher for the 1987-1988 school year.

Cyndi Woerz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woerz of Marion, will receive a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Kansas in May. She has been accepted for the fall class in the medical school at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City.
