Dave Farrar, head coach of the national champion Hutchinson Community College basketball team, will be guest speaker at Thursday’s athletic banquet, sponsored by Marion Kiwanis.

Gerry Harris has returned to Marion from the outback of Australia, where he spent nearly a month traveling that continent and New Zealand.

Country singer Roy Clark will perform June 5 at the 51st annual Flint Hills Rodeo in Strong City.

Announcement was made this week that David and Shirley Bowers are the managers of September Apartments, replacing Harlow and Edith Warneke who resigned. The 20-unit complex is located at the east edge of Marion.

Joe Young was a famous racehorse in his day. The genteel days of the 1880s are coming back Saturday when the 11th annual Joe Young Memorial Driving Meet takes place at historic Peabody Park.

Marion school board members presented service awards Monday night. Earlene Hague and Helen Reznicek received 20-year awards, Eileen Hiebert and Susan Reid, 15 years, and Steve Janzen, Ed Seaman, and Mary Jane Grimmett, 10-years.
