Howard Gilmer, a resident at Marion County Park and Lake, told county commissioners Tuesday that a memorial plaque and parking area could be installed at Lookout Point, at the foot of Airport Road and opposite Kingfisher’s Inn. The plaque would commemorate the people and workers who built the lake in 1937-38.

Carla J. Stovall, a Marion High School graduate, has been selected by Gov. Mike Hayden to serve on the Kansas Parole Board. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stovall and the granddaughter of Bernice Ford, all of Marion.

Rick Turner, owner of Florence Market, is pictured as he checks the produce display at his store. The expanded selection has drawn in a lot of customers who had been doing their shopping outside the county, Turner said.

Cathedral Crafts, Inc. of Winona, Minn., has been cleaning and repairing all of the “priceless” windows at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Msg. Tonne said the church decided to do the work on the windows because of the upcoming Pilsen Centennial on Oct. 8.
