The community of Pilsen hopes that all past members and families of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and individuals from neighboring towns will make plans to attend its centennial festivities, which begin Oct. 8.

A videotape of Marion is being made and will be shown Sept. 11 at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.

Centre High School girls were top winners Saturday in the Tri-County 4-H Free Fair contest. Holly Kleinschmidt was selected queen and Amy Brunner was picked as first attendant. Holly is the daughter of Bob and Arlene Kleinschmidt of Lincolnville. Amy’s parents are Irvin and Tudy Brunner of Ramona.

Dina Levering, bride-elect of Greg Vogel, was guest of honor Sunday at a miscellaneous come and go bridal shower in the parlors of Strassburg Baptist Church. Hostesses were Martha Krispense, Wanda Richmond, Rhonda Schinnerer, and Patsy Waner.

A bike tour of the Santa Fe Trail will pass through Marion during the morning and afternoon of Aug. 16. The tour runs from Olathe to Dodge City and will take six days to complete.

Marion Kiwanians heard reports Monday from Chris Sprowls and Ed Zeller, seniors at Marion High School, who attended Boys’ State this year. Dale Heidebrecht, who was a counselor at Boys’ State, was an additional guest at the meeting.
