A Harvest Moon Festival will be held in Marion Aug. 12 and 13. Activities will include sidewalk sales, a 30-minute program by the “Celebration Singers,” children’s’ games, barnyard Olympics, and a barbecue cook-off contest. There also will be water ski shows at Marion County Lake by the Manhattan and El Dorado ski clubs.

The 1963 graduating class of Marion High School held its 25th anniversary reunion July 16. All-day activities included breakfast, a tour of the high school, and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW post home. There were 31 classmates present out of a class of 45.

Wendy Hett returned Saturday from a two-month internship at JR Tobacco in Fairfield, N.J. While there, she stayed with her aunt and uncle, Lew and LaVonda Rothman, owners of the company.

Byron C. McCarty, a native of Marion and resident of Florence, was honored by the State of Kansas July 19 when Gov. Hayden presented him with a 40-year service pin during ceremonies in Topeka. McCarty began his career with the Kansas Highway Department in December 1947.
