Committees have been named to begin work and draw up plans for development of a nature trail in Central Park. Funds have already been committed to the project. Marion Kiwanis Club will work on the front part of the nature trail and Marion Lions Club will work on the back part.

Edward and Margaret Hein of Hillsboro celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 5 through 7, with their children and grandchildren at the Hays Holidome

Sharon Kroupa, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa of Marion has been elected director of Professional Development of the Wichita Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. She has been the accounting and reporting officer of the Fourth Financial Corporation for the past four years.

Middle school, junior high and high school girls participated in a volleyball camp the past week at Marion High School. Players were coached by Andy Heffren, member of the Indiana- Purdue University men’s volleyball team.

A terrific rain and windstorm hit the Youngtown area Saturday afternoon. Winds got wild, took limbs down, and shingles off buildings.

Marion Kiwanians have selected “Marion Memories on Parade” as the theme for Old Settlers’ Day, Sept. 24.
