State legislators Duane Goossen and Jerry Karr paid a visit to Marion Saturday, answering questions from local citizens. About 30 people attended the meeting, sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
A cedar shingle roof has been added to the town-identifying sign at the corner of North Roosevelt and U.S. 56. The roof will protect and beautify the cedar and stone sign that was constructed in the fall.
Five books from a Florence Middle School writing project have been selected for a national contest. The books are “A Day in the Life of a Pencil” by Micah Hanson, “A Missing Birthday Present” by Sherry Lange, “Danger on Mount Yo-Yo” by Amanda Janzen, “The Day We Found a Unicorn” by Danielle Longhofer, and “Ten Days to Live” by Thurston Thies. The students wrote and illustrated the children’s book in Melissa Stubenhofer’s reading class.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hett hosted a party Saturday honoring the birthdays of their daughter-in-law Loreen Hett (Feb. 28) and their son David (March 1).
Two Marion USD students designed advertisements that were published in Tuesday’s Wichita Eagle-Beacon as part of a Newspaper in Education project. Tonya Heslet drew an ad for a furniture store and Tamara Stenzel, a junior at Marion High School, designed an ad for a drugstore.
