The board of education of Marion Unified School District approved eventual expenditures Monday night that could climb to a figure of more than $400,000. This included expanded vocational Agricultural Education class space, asbestos removal, mainframe computer center, software and printers, and a new school bus.
Birth announcements this week include those of Aaron Robert, son of Stacy and Joni (Kroupa) Smith of Aurora, Ill., born March 2; Janet Nicole, daughter of Stephen and Michelle (Helmer) Glahn of Marion, born March 10; Dustin Shane, son of Joe and Susan (Vogel) Huffstutler of Mayetta, born March 7; and Trent Randall, son of Randy and Ann (Christensen) Crask of Wichita, born March 10.
Six Marion players were named to the mythical Cottonwood Valley League all-league basketball team. Boys named were Bill Davis, Mike Helmer, and Kelly Linnens. Girls named were Robin Summervill, Charlotte Thies, and Kristy Herbel.
Steven Spohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Spohn of Tampa, received a $750 award from the KSU Foundation during the recently held Scholarship Day banquet in Manhattan. The award was made in recognition of his school, community, and employment activities.
