Marion Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its second annual Spring Fling Saturday.

Marion’s city commissioners may soon meet only two times a month instead of every week, if Mayor Gerry Harris gets support for such a change.

Marion native Robert F. Hagans, chairman of the board of Unitog Company in Kansas City, Mo., is one of seven outstanding graduates of Kansas State University returning to campus this spring to be honored as a 1989 Alumni Fellow. Hagans is the son of Mrs. Frank (Velma) Hagans and brother of Mrs. Alex (Jean) Case, both of Marion.

Marion High School will present the musical, “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Jennifer Thole, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Thole of Marion, has been accepted for membership in the United States Collegiate Wind Band. The highly selective musical organization will make a three-week concert tour of Europe, England and the continent, in July.

Jason Bina, Diann Stuchlik, and Mary Jane Tajchman are recipients of three scholarships from St. Luke Hospital. Bina is studying for a career in physical therapy and Stuchlik as a dietitian. Tajchman is continuing her studies to become a registered nurse.
