Pictured on the front page are two high school seniors from throughout Marion County who are participating in a mock trial, presented each year by Marion County Bar Association. “District Court Judge” Robin Summervill ran the trial with the help of genuine District Court Judge Melvin Gradert.

Marion Chamber of Commerce pinochle card bash results were announced recently. Top scorers were Walt and Jackie Hett, Lynn and Wilma Christensen, and Earlene Petty and Irene Busch.

The Eugene Enos family of Marion received special honors Monday during the annual meeting of the Flint Hills Girl Scout Council at Emporia. The Enos family received the council’s first family award with more than 85 combined years of service to Girl Scouting.

Area farmers and ranchers were treated to a special lunch Saturday at Marion County Equipment, the John Deere dealership located in Marion Industrial Park. The business was celebrating its second anniversary at that location.

Leadership Marion County is off to a fast start. Those in the first group are Barbara Klein, Nathan Smith, Jim Chamberland, and Jackie Crofoot, all of Marion; Barry Linnens of Florence; Ralph Garrison, Goessel; and Marc Degenhardt and Fred Warren of Hillsboro.
