Larry Reiswig is pictured as he presents a certificate to Les Byer, owner of Flint Hills Clay works, at Friday’s Marion Chamber of Commerce meeting. Byer, and several other local businesses, were honored for their work in bringing jobs to the community.

Earlene Hague will be honored June 30 when a reception will be held to recognize her for 21 years of dedicated service as clerk of the board of education of Marion Unified School District.

Jason Hett celebrated his first birthday Saturday at a party at the home of his parents, Gary and Joella Hett.

Couples announcing, in this issue, upcoming 40th wedding anniversary celebrations are George and Carol Helmer of Newton and Harold and Mary Ann Wiens of Marion.

Phoebe Janzen has been selected as “Young Careerist” by the Hillsboro-Marion Business and Professional Women’s Club. Jeri Klose is pictured presenting her with a certificate of achievement. Janzen is an educator and author, as well as manager of Marion Municipal Pool.

Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Miltz of Lincolnville are early entrants in the Marion County Record’s annual Produce Derby. This past week they brought in a 2.5-pound squash, others of lesser size, and a big bag of green beans.
