Marion County Commissioners discussed the illegal drug situation in Marion County during Monday’s meeting. Commissioner Charles DeForest asked Marion County Attorney Keith Collett for an assessment of Marion County’s drug problem.

City worker Bob Matz is pictured marking parking spaces on Main Street Monday evening. City crews have been marking crosswalks and parking spaces in preparation for Old Settlers’ Day.

Pam Bredemeier and her son Jake Harp Bredemeier were honored Thursday evening with a layette shower at the home of Jamie Hett.

Marion High School cheerleaders for the 1989-90 are Tammy Johnson, Shannon Connell, Ashley Loomis, Sara Mills, Amy Linnens, and Jennifer Vantuyl. Centre Cougar cheerleaders are Jennifer Nowak, Lynette Hajek, Susie Svoboda, Leslie Hedstrom, Paige Bruner, and Amy Erickson.

Three cases of rabies have been reported in Marion County within the past 60 days. The cases involved a cat, a skunk, and a horse.

Carla Carlson, daughter of Greg and Linda Carlson, was five years old Sunday and celebrated her birthday at two parties. Guests at the first party, on Saturday, were Carla’s brother Nick, cousins and friends. Carla’s parents hosts a family supper at their home on Sunday.
