During the week of Aug. 6 to 12, Marion High School senior Sara Mills attended “Hot Shots,” National Photography Institute in Washington, D.C. She attended the photo institute as a representative of Marion County and the Kansas 4-H Program.

Marion County’s Julie Sellers, daughter of Robert and Leah Sellers of Florence, was named first attendant at the recent Tri-County Fair 4-H Queen contest at Herington.

Deanna Olsen is pictured with her 7 pound 5½ ounce squash entry in the Marion County Record produce derby. Also pictured is Jim Vinduska with a very long burpless hybrid cucumber that will make several quarts of pickles.

Graduates of the second Leadership Marion County class include Donna Hajek, Mike Classen, and Joan Bowers, Marion; Cynthia Fleming, Newton; Jami Smith-Williams, Florence; Jan Meisinger, Dwight Flaming, and James Thiessen, Hillsboro; James Voth, Goessel; Randy Cox, Dennis Riggs, and Terril Eberhard, Peabody.

Marion/Florence FFA chapter members attended a leadership camp at Rock Springs Ranch July 16-19. Pictured are Jenny Herzet, Sara Mills, Charlie Helmer, Jeff Soyez, and Michel Soyez along with Jamie Feery, vo-ag teacher, and chapter adviser Mark Meyer.

Descendants of J.D. Riggs held their 62nd annual reunion Sunday at the Florentine building in Florence. Eighty-nine family members were present.
