Marion City commissioners approved an ordinance Monday banning skateboards, bicycles, and other wheeled conveyances from Main Street sidewalks. Anyone breaking the ordinance will have the vehicle in question impounded for up to 30 days and may face a fine of between $10-$50.

This year’s Marion High School cheerleaders are Sara Mills, Ashley Loomis, Renee Goodin, Jennifer Vantuyl, and Tammy Johnson.

Walls are up for the expanded St. Luke Hospital nursing home facility. The roof should be on by the end of October, said site manager Cliff Edwards of Busboom and Rauh Construction.

Marion High School freshmen Elly Barta-Moran and Hannah Bennett were honored by Butler County Community College when they took top honors in a creative writing contest sponsored by the school.

More than 200 parishioners and well-wishers attended a potluck dinner honoring the Rev. Gerald Pathe, pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, who is leaving Marion after almost 30 years of service.

Senior John Griffth has been voted Student of the Month for September by members of the high school faculty.

Marion High School candidates for homecoming queen and king are Steph Burkholder, Nicki Swift, Kelli Hajek, Glenn Krispense, Matt Hatfield, and William Teufel.
