According to the Monday meeting of the Marion city commissioners, a limestone block will be set at the Central Park Nature Trail, with a plaque listing all who contributed to its construction and lighting. The block comes from the old Schoneman building, torn down to make way for an automated teller at Farmers and Drovers National Bank. A similar block may be placed at the Luta Creek stage, in memory of Richard Brodhead.

Nicki Swift and William Teufel were crowned Marion High School homecoming queen and king at halftime of the Warrior’s game against Sacred Heart of Salina.

City of Marion crews are pictured as they install adjustable basketball goals in Central Park. The goals were placed on the little-used tennis courts.

Sherry Lange, daughter of Larry and Ruth Lange of Marion, was crowned FFA sweetheart by the Marion-Florence chapter at the sweetheart dance held Sept. 15.

Nine members of the MHS graduating class of 1930 rode in the Old Settlers’ Day parade Saturday. Class members present were Bob Keazer, Owen Smith, Rebecca Worley Tetlow, Irma Shahan Knaak, Bernice Utting Ford, Millie Bredemeier Summervill, Nettie Rempel Rittel, Jessie Higgins Bowers, and Iva Hett Unruh.

Our Savior Lutheran Church on South Cedar Street celebrates its 50th anniversary this Sunday. Several events are planned.
