A 1941 graduate of Marion High School Glenn Dody, now of Colorado Springs, has continued a lifelong tradition of sports accomplishments. He participated in the U.S. National Senior Sports Classic III at Syracuse, New York, June 28 to July 3. He qualified in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter track events by placing either first, second, or third in local and state contests in Colorado, Arizona, and Texas.
After teaching at Marion High School for 20 years, Pauline Ferrell has retired as home economics teacher at Marion High School. She now serves as Northwest Kansas Area Home Economist in Colby.
Dave and Jackie Crofoot and John L. Moore of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Annette Moore, to Michael Alan Padgett, son of John and Joyce Padgett of Florence. The wedding date is set for August 17.
Player/coaches during the three-day basketball camp at Marion High School gymnasium, Thursday through Saturday, were Alonzo Jamison of the University of Kansas and Askia Jones and Jo Wiley of Kansas State University. Coaches were Bob Chipman, Torey Head, and Ron McHenry, all of Washburn University.
Rocky and Shirley Jo Hett of Marion had 13 new arrivals Saturday after their Muskogee duck’s eggs hatched. Not wasting any time, the ducklings, pictured, took to water in the backyard pond at Hett Hollow the same day they were born.
