Sister Scholastica Moeder, on the staff at St. Luke Hospital in the 1960s as anesthetist and operating room nurse, returned this week to participate in dedication ceremonies for the expanded and remodeled hospital.

The Board of Education decided Monday night to proceed with a proposal to expand classroom space at Marion Elementary School.

Double ring wedding vows were exchanged July 27at Marion Christian Church by Jennifer Sue McLain, daughter of Larry and Linda McLain, and Michael Dean Kelsey, son of Gerald and Sharon Kelsey.

Outstanding students from 15 high schools in Marion, McPherson, and Rice counties will be honored Wednesday by the University of Kansas at a banquet at Holiday Manor Convention Center, McPherson. Marion High School students include Jennifer Blount, Alan Meisinger, Lori Tice, and Jennifer Vantuyl.

A couples’ miscellaneous shower honoring David Oborny and his fiancée Sandra Schepker was held Sept. 1 at the home of Val and Julie Klenda, rural Lincolnville.

Centre High School Class of 1971 celebrated its 20th year anniversary reunion Aug. 31. The evening started with supper at Kathy’s County Kitchen in downtown Durham. A social evening followed at the home of Brad and Kathy Backhus.
