Several promotions were announced at Marion National Bank this week. Larry Loomis was promoted to executive vice president, Mike Classen was named vice president and cashier, and Elora Robinson was named vice president

Jason Peters of Goessel won the annual Marion County Spelling Bee Feb. 19 at Marion Elementary School. Diana Koslowsky of Hillsboro Middle School placed second. Eric Byer of Florence Middle School was third and also received the Maude Thompson award, named in honor of the longtime Marion educator.

Engagement announcements include those of Shelley R. Jirak and Jason M. Plett, both of Salina, who will be married Sept. 12, and Jo Ann Westhoff of St. Paul and Gary Michael Stuchlik of Lost Springs, who will be married May 30.

Tony Britton has been selected student of the month for February by the Marion High School faculty. A senior, he is the son of Larry and Iva Britton of Florence.

Upcoming anniversary celebrations include the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Travis of Milton and the 73rd of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart Steinle of Marion.

Seniors Melissa Ramsey and Shane Klein were honored Friday as Queen and King of Courts during halftime of the Marion High School boys’ varsity game with Eureka.
