A request for almost $73,000 from Marion County Improvement District No. 1 caught Marion County commissioners off guard Monday. The request was for money to develop a treated water distribution system for homes at Marion County Lake. The money is one-third of the total cost with the additional $400,000 sought through a community development block grant.
The annual Spring Fling sidewalk sale and community-wide garage sale will be held May 1 in Marion.
Florence Middle School eighth grade Scholars’ Bowl team won the Cottonwood Valley Junior League championship Thursday. Team members Eliza Bennett, Chris Bowers, Courtney Goering, Bryan Bombardier, and Breanne Moore went undefeated to capture the championship.
A bolt of lightning struck a tree in the Jim Helfer yard at Marion County Lake Sunday morning. The sap in the green tree exploded, shattering and seriously damaging new vinyl siding on the Jack Applegate home next door.
