Jerry Cady, Marion agent for National Farmers Union Insurance, has purchased the Enid Jost all-risk crop insurance agency in Marion and has moved his office to Jost’s building at 104 North Fifth. Employees Bud Wilcox, Leona Loney, and Don Williams remain with the agency.

Tracy and Dusty Hett are pictured working together in Tracy’s new shop, Trace of Copper, located on US-56 near Marion. An official grand opening has not been announced but Tracy hopes to invite the public to such an event sometime in the fall.

Chuck Bina, Tyler Zinn, and Jordan Krause, students at Centre Junior High School, placed second among fifth graders and fifth in the state in a Quiz Bowl contest. Points were scored based on speed and accuracy with students having 60 seconds to answer each question.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital in January were Leslie Ann Brewer, born Jan. 10, and Dylan Edward Svitak, born Jan. 26.

Rex Wilson, math teacher and coach who has taught school for 34 years, with 30 of those years in Marion, is January’s “Teacher of the Month.”

Mark Gillis is pictured as he makes final adjustments in the Main Street Café kitchen. The popular restaurant on the hill has re-located to 214 East Main in downtown Marion, in the building that formerly housed the Owl Car Café.
