Pictured on the front page is Kay Summervill as she prepares to lead graduates Corey Darrow, Adam Collett, Tony Gilbert, Hannah Bennett, and Elly Barta-Moran into Marion Gym Sunday for commencement. LeAnn Hiebert was named valedictorian, and Bennett was named salutatorian.

An aerial tribute will be presented over Marion Tuesday afternoon in recognition of Memorial Day and in honor of deceased veterans. Tentative plans call for a fly-over at 3:30 p.m. by a super-sonic B-1-B from McConnell AFB, Wichita.

Matt Holub was selected as student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. He is the son of Allan and Dorothy Richmond and Pat and Linda Holub, all of Marion. He works at Marion Manufacturing and plans to attend Kansas State University to major in either mechanical or electrical engineering.

John DeForest of Peabody is Amy Smith’s selection this week of the person “who made a difference” in their community. Not fully retired yet, DeForest, a farmer and businessman, keeps busy with numerous community activities.
