Marion City commissioners toured the community Monday, evaluating sub-standard property and were embarrassed that one of the Standard Board complaints was about the former Santa Fe Railroad depot, which is owned by the city.

Other areas were praised as many owners have repaired or torn down buildings and kept vacant lots mowed better than usual this summer.

Traffic ventured across the Main/Cedar street intersection Friday for the first time in months. The curves are designed to improve visibility from all directions.

Pizza Hut of Marion opened its doors Monday, bringing new opportunities for area consumers and more competition to area restaurants.

State Farm Insurance agent Becky Walsh has been appointed agent in Marion, filling the vacancy left by the death of the late Dean Pippin.

Jeff and Kelly Henry and their 2-year-old son Oliver have moved to Marion from Wichita. Henry is a family practice physician at St. Luke Medical Center. He chose Marion because of the quality of staff and medical facilities, and the friendliness of the people.
