Lisa, the elephant, is pictured as she uses her prehensile nose to pluck carrot chunks from the hands of Marion Elementary School children. The elephant was serving as advance man for King Royal Brothers Circus, which is in Marion for performances on the grounds of Marion Airport.

Ethan Good, a junior at Marion High School, has been selected as student of the month. He is the son of JoAnn and Bob Good of rural Marion. After graduation, Ethan plans to attend a four-year college and pursue studies in mechanical engineering.

Centre High School volleyball coach Yvonne Burhoop and players Emily Belton, Kelli Peterson, and Melissa Vinduska keep a close eye on the game Friday in Hays. The Cougars ended their season at state and were unable to battle their way into the semi-finals.

New participants outlining their buildings with clear Christmas lights so far this season are Marion Hometown Foods, Marion Christian Church, Holy Family Parish church and rectory, Pizza Hut, Marion Motor Center, Trace of Copper, and the Mike and Judy Powers home.
