Candidates for Marion High School Queen of Courts are Rebecca Collett, Katrina Hancock, and Julie Weber. Escort candidates are Brendan Kraus, Jared Herzet, and Brad Druse. Ceremonies are set for Friday at halftime of the Herington game.

Bill Holdeman has announced that he will open a barber shop in downtown Marion.

Final count has not yet been completed, but it looks like Marion High School students have raised the $750 needed for a deck on campus. Marion Unified School District will supply another $750. Students will design and build the deck, probably on the grassy area west of the stone school building.

“Beary Special Babies” born in January at St. Luke Hospital were Kaylee Raine Miles, born Jan. 14; Shayna Michelle Mascareno, Jan. 14; and Thomas Lee Oborny, Jan. 21.

Among 100 students participating in a multi-piano festival at Bethel College Saturday are the following Marion and Florence students of Julie Nelson: Carrie Darrow, Shannon Hoffer, Emily Costello, Erin O’Dell, Lisa, Sara, and Krista Zogelman, Shawna Hett, Heidi Zogelman, and Nicole, Margie, and Becky Taylor.
