Marion Kiwanis Club held officer installation ceremonies Oct. 16. President for 1995-96 is Susan Robson, first woman president in the club’s 83-year history.

Nearly 100 women attended the second annual workshop for Marion County women sponsored by Marion County Cooperative Service, Prairie View, and St. Luke Hospital and Living Center Saturday. The workshop was directed by Linda Ogden, who welcomed the people and introduced the people who organized the event.

Mary Deane Peterson began working at the Burdick Post Office in 1960 as a part-time postal clerk. She will retire as postmaster Nov. 3 after 35 years of service.

Andrew Boekeman of Wongan Hills, Western Australia, son of founder and owner of Boekeman Machines, Case-IH dealerships in Australia, is visiting several IHC dealers in the Midwest, including Straub’s in Marion learning about successful dealers.

Nearly 500 mother/daughter couples from a seven-county area are attending a Girl Scout Council campout at Camp Wood near Elmdale. Pictured are four canoe’rs Kate Irelan of Kansas City and Judy Powers, Maggie Powers, and Erin O’Dell of Marion.

Former Marion resident Billy Junior May, now living at the Kansas Soldiers Home near Dodge City, is pictured holding a Marion afghan presented to him by friends, Harry and Theodora Koslowsky, who recently delivered it to him at the home.
