Barry J. Linnens, executive vice president of Cottonwood Valley Bank, Cedar Point, has announced the intended acquisition of Armstrong Bancshares, which includes Florence State Bank and its branch in Burns.

Two busloads of West Virginia cattle producers made a stop at Mills Cattle Company, Florence, as part of their five-day tour. Randy and Judy Mills presented a history of the Strait Ranch and the Florence area. The couple discussed their progressive and innovative cattle operation and treated the group to refreshments.

Marion High School student Kelly Hett was recognized as an honor student during Business Career Day at Emporia State University.

An article by Rowena Plett features Virginia Downing, who grew up in the Youngtown area, is retired from the business world, and now devotes her time as a volunteer for the Marion County Department for the Elderly.
