Budget hearings typically don’t have repeat performances, but Marion’s will later this month.
The city council will conduct a second hearing about the city’s budget at 4:30 p.m. Sept 19.
Council members approved the 2023 budget Aug. 22, but no mention was made that notices required to be given to taxpayers 10 days in advance of their meeting arrived only seven days in advance.
City administrator Mark Skiles said Tuesday the council would “go into” why a second hearing was necessary before the hearing.
The city’s levy for its 2023 budget represents a 5.814% increase.
