Mayor Gerry Harris announced Friday that a Pizza Hut would be constructed just north of US-56 within Marion city limits. Harris also announced he would move his car rental and used car business to a highway location. Already located on the site is Touch of Copper, an art and gift shop.

Don Buethe of Lincolnville, who has retired after 45 years in the farm, chicken, and egg business, is subject of this week’s “They Made a Difference” column.

Marion is featured in a full-page advertisement in the Kansas Secrets travel guide for 1994. Included are listings for Kingfishers’ Inn, Main Street Café, Flint Hills Clay Works, Kraft Korner, Marion Mini Mall, the Copper Shed, Will’s Woolies, Country Inn Motel, and Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast.

Workers with J-D Construction, Wichita, are pictured as they remove 80-year-old tiles from the roof of St. John Nepomucene Church in Pilsen and make necessary repairs to wood beneath before re-roofing the full-length of the cathedral-like church.
