Windows and rafters for a new Marion Pizza Hut restaurant are going up this week in the business park north of US-56.

Al Sondergard of Ramona is Amy Smith’s choice this week for her column about people who made a difference in their communities. For 32 years before retiring in 1987, Sondergard operated Sondergard’s Garage in Ramona and was active in community and church affairs.

A $100 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever was responsible for vandalizing memorial gaslights along the nature trail in Central Park.

Cash prizes will be offered at Summerfest’s lip-synch contest June 11 on the Luta Creek stage alongside Central Park in downtown Marion. The winner will receive $200; second place, $100; third, $50; and fourth, $25.
