Marion High School secretary Fern Friesen is retiring this year after 24 years. She sat at her desk through six presidents, seven principals, and six superintendents.

John Brose will be host for an “after hours” gathering Friday for members of Marion Chamber of Commerce. The reception will start at 5 p.m. at the Brose home, 428 N. Cedar St.

Ten area people have received emergency medical technician certification. Of these, five will volunteer for Marion County Emergency Medical Services.

The 10 include Michele Lundy of Marion and Tampa; Cayle Goertzen, Stan Neufeld, and Amanda Spencer, Hillsboro; Judith Creamer and Scott Zogelman, Florence; and Rachel Alt, G.P. Floyd, and Scott Melcher, Herington.
