Max Gough, emergency medical services director for Marion County, moved into his office near St. Luke Hospital on Feb. 15. He is getting acquainted with Marion County people and its medical facilities.

Marion Warriors won a share of the CVL title Friday night with a big win over the Centre Cougars. They share the title with Herington. Team members are Darin Helmer, Jeff Richmond, Van Kerns, Gary Boyle, Rick Richmond, Jerry Hett, Doug Heerey, Gary Hett, Brad Heerey, Rob Hill, and Brett O’Dell.

The honor of being the first baby born in 1977 at St. Luke Hospital belongs to Shawn Patrick Schafers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schafers, who was born Feb. 15.

Sherwin Frey, a senior at Goessel High School, became the 10,000th Kansas Honor Student, and was so recognized at the Kansas Honors Program banquet last Wednesday night at McPherson.

Six Marion girls received certificates of participation recently for competing in a Kansas Piano Festival in Lindsborg. The festival was part of the state music festival conducted each spring. Those receiving the certificates were Julie Hett, Sherri Kelly, and Theresa Kroupa from Florence Junior High; and Carol Regier, Carol Ehrlich, and Ann Christensen from Marion High School.
