The Marion and Hillsboro based ambulances operated by Marion County made 17 runs during the month of July, according to Max Gough, director

Dee and Michael Schaeffer returned to Marion last week to visit some of the many people with whom they became friends when they were hospitalized at St. Luke Hospital over two years ago. The Schaeffers were involved in an auto accident April 1, 1975, on a snowy road near Lincolnville. Michael spent two weeks in St. Luke Hospital and Dee spent three and one-half months as a patient at St. Luke before being flown by medical airplane to their home town of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Barbara Longhofer will become administrator of Mid-America Nursing Center of Marion Sept. 1. She will replace Roberta Childers who has resigned.

Bud Pierce and a team of square dancers will put on an exhibition for the elderly at the Hilltop Manor Recreation Center Friday. Pierce will “call” the dance.

Several cars of a northbound Rock Island freight train derailed early Sunday morning near the Sullenger place southwest of Marion. The crossing was blocked until the train could be uncoupled. The track itself was blocked until the middle of the afternoon.
