L.L. Hadsell, treasurer of the board of directors of Hospital District No. 1, is pictured as he signs a check for final payment of the mortgage note on St. Luke Hospital. The check, for $11,779, was one of nine similar payments made since April 3, 1968. The district now owns the hospital in full.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagans have been welcomed to Marion by the courtesy coupon committee of Twentieth Century Club on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce. The Hagans formerly lived in Marion while he was County Extension Council director here.

There was ice on the ground Sunday morning, which made walking and driving very hazardous. It started raining heavily in the middle of the morning and, by evening, it was snowing. A regular blizzard occurred Monday morning with a prediction of an accumulation of four to six inches of snow. Schools were dismissed and all roads were closed.
