A record 73 anglers competed this past Sunday in the seventh annual Marion Lake Open Fishing Derby. Jim Lehrman of Goessel won the individual class while two Salina men, Don Vidrickson and Dennis Brown, were first in the buddy competition.

There were 46 clowns registered at the start of Saturday’s parade of clowns, part of Marion’s July Jamboree celebration. Game booths, lemonade and snack stands, arts and crafts tables, and displays of in-store and outdoor bargains lined both sides of Main Street during the Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event.

Ownership of the Ramona State Bank has changed hands Four new directors, headed by Bob Arnold of Hillsboro, purchased the entire stock and holdings and have taken over operation.

Two girls from Germany arrived Saturday and will be living in the community for a year as International Christian Youth Exchange students. Anke Blattmann is living on the farm with the David Bowers family. Eva Sassenscheidt is living in town with the Harold Wiens family. Both girls will attend Marion High School this fall.

Mrs. Paul Vinduska is pictured as she displays 83/8 pounds of tomatoes she entered in the Produce Derby this week. The largest of the three weighed 3½ pounds.
