Fall and winter fashions were featured Sunday afternoon at a fall fashion preview at St. Mark’s Activity Center. Sponsoring the event were The Sassy Shop and Jackson’s Men’s and Boy’s Wear.

The diesel-powered generating unit that once supplied electrical power to homes in Marion will arrive soon in Molokai, Hawaii, where is will be used to power the needs of the island’s growing tourist interest. The city sold the engine for $50,000. It was reconditioned by Exline, Inc. of Salina before being shipped to Hawaii.

Gold Star Mothers, those who have lost a son in the military service, are recognized in a special way each year as National Gold Star Mothers Day is observed. Tressie Ford, Hazel Ecker, and Evelyn Stage are pictured as they receive necklaces and red silk roses at a recent meeting of the Auxiliary to Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer VFW Post 6958.

Hurshel Raleigh, who has been employed by Marion Board of Education as maintenance man since 1958, retired Friday. He is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile.
