With lighted displays and store windows sparkling with holiday spirit, it does not take much prompting to feel in the mood for Christmas shopping in Marion.

Keith Collett, graduate student from Marion, performed in Kansas State University’s opera presentation Thursday in McCain Auditorium. Collett played the part of David in Samuel Barber’s opera “A Hand of Bridge.” He also appeared as Count Almaviva in “Marriage of Figaro.”

The American Agriculture Movement “Tractorcade 78” will come through Marion next Thursday, Dec. 14

Three former Marion County District Court employees were honored Tuesday afternoon at a brief ceremony in the courtroom. Associate Judge Edwin G. Westerhaus presented gold pins recognizing services of former Probate Judge Henry F. Loveless and his wife, Edith, who served as deputy clerk. Herbert Hett also was recognized for his service as court bailiff for the past 10 years.

Seven Boy Scouts and their scoutmaster John Jordan enjoyed camping Friday through Saturday on land north of Marion. Scouts were Danny Horsch, Myles Zeller, Mike Jordan, Jeff Conyers, Jeff Harris, Chris Meierhoff and Monte Dalke.
